Family Services Colorado, Inc. was a non-profit corporation registered with the Colorado Secretary of State in February 1997 and dissolved in June 2002. Although its articles of incorporation stated that it intended to apply for IRS 501(c)3 tax-exempt status, it is unknown whether it ever applied for or was granted such status. It was established by Barry Gerard Prendergast (aka Zack or Zach) and his wife, Naomi Prendergast. In July 1999, the Prendergasts received the "Parent of the Year" award from the National Parents Day Foundation. Former members who heard of the award identified Mr. Prendergrast as a member of the Family who had abused children at a Victor Camp in Italy in the 1980s. After inquiries from Houston Chronicle reporter Evan Moore and others, Mr. Prendergast returned the award.
