NewDayNews.com homepage, 2008-03-06.

NewDayNews.com was a website for former members of The Family. Its primary focus was directed at former First generation members.

The website was originally started by Geraldo Lourenco (aka Barnabus or Barney), on December 18, 1999, when he was a Fellow Member of The Family. The concept for the site was to allow open debate regarding The Family on the site's "General Board" (later renamed "Crossfire").

Lourenco and his home were officially excommunicated by The Family for "negative comments about the Family, its leadership doctrine and policy" on the website. Lourenco was not aware that his membership status had been revoked until reading about it in a Family publication (PDFGrapevine 89, pg.2, "Status Change: Barney and the Laurel Home, USA").

Lourenco eventually left the website, and is no longer active online.

The site was privately funded and operated by a group of mostly first generation former members.

NewDayNews.com featured several message forums, a resource section, and a large collection of photos.

In early October 2008, the operators of the site announced they planned to shutdown the service on December 19th, 2008 and that it would then continue indefinitely as a read-only archive site.
