A term used to describe society outside of The Family. It is especially applied to capitalistic societies, but anything and everything that is 'out there' and not within the group (which considers itself separate from the "un-Godly" world) is considered a part of the System.

The term is often used while invoking a sense of iconoclastic elitism and thinly veiled distain of the System and "Systemites". This characterization played well to personality types who were attracted to so-called anti-establishment movements.

Biblical passages are often used to reinforce the advocated dichotomy of members with the outside world, frequently invoking Jesus' exhortations to his followers to shun things of the "world". Members were often chided for perceived "worldliness" for inordinate association with outsiders or outside media including books, music and movies.

John 15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
