The raid Tuesday came on the heels of a crackdown on the sect in Buenos Aires, where the cult is known as [[The Family International|the Family]]. Members there face charges of [[Berg on Rape|rape]], [[:Category:Child Abuse|child abuse]] and [[:Category:Child Abduction|kidnaping]]. The Paraguayan branch of the cult, an offshoot of a U.S. group called the [[Children of God]], is under investigation on similar charges, Radio Nanduti said. The cult's attorneys in Argentina have denied any wrongdoing, saying that their clients were "members of a missionary community that lives a very austere life... and provides its children with great affection and protection." The Children of God was founded in Huntington Beach in the [[1960s]].
