In the late '80s, the Family gathered most, if not all, of its teenaged children into Teen Training Camps (TTCs) in various locations around the globe. Each continent in which the Family held a major presence hosted one of these camps, their purpose being to re-inspire and re-educate teens who may have been dissatisfied or disillusioned with their lifestyle. The Basic Training Handbook chronicles these camps in detail, with photos, meeting transcripts, results of questionnaires completed by attendees, song lyrics and scripts of skits.

These temporary camps were followed by more permanent Teen Combos, to which delinquent or dissaffected teens would be sent for re-indoctrination.
