Jeremy Spencer, born in West Hartlepool, England on July 4th, 1948, is a British musician and one of Fleetwood Mac's early guitarists, joining the band in 1967. His specialty was the slide guitar and he was strongly influenced by blues musician Elmore James. He remained with the band until 1971 when he joined the Children of God. Changing his name to Jonathan (later changing back to Jeremy), he renounced his possessions and shaved his head upon joining the cult.

He remains with The Family (as the cult is now called) to this day, participating in missionary activities, doing studio recordings for the cult throughout Asia and South America (mainly Brazil), and illustrating Family publications for children.
